James 4:3: ''You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
Philippians 2:21: "For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 2:4: "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
There was a woman in the bible called Hannah, Hannah's womb was closed by God and for years she would cry out to God to bless her with a child. Her barrenness made her sad. Hannah was also burdened by her barrenness because she was mocked about it. One day, Hannah said this prayer to God "if you give me a son, I promise to dedicate him back to you''. I believe that before saying this prayer, Hannah had realized that she needed to understand the motive behind her prayers.
Relating this to our lives, what are the motives behind your prayers? do you want God to bless you because you want to bless others or because you want to show off?. The truth is we cannot hide our motives from God because He sees our heart. It is also not about saying the prayer but we must also be ready to fulfil what we say. Again, just like Hannah, after saying that prayer and having her child, she fulfilled her promise of dedicating her son back to God. We cannot deceive God, so we must mean what we say when we make a promise to Him or else do not make the promise.
So if you ask God for a house in order to host a fellowship or home cell, you must be ready to fulfil that promise when God gives you the house. Because, it's very easy for us to disappear when we receive our breakthrough and return when we are in need of something else.
God is not interested in our religious rituals, He is more interested in our heart posture and building our character. We must learn how to pray like Hannah especially when we have been trusting God for something that is yet to come. Instead of praying for financial breakthrough to prove to those that said you won't make it, pray that God blesses you so you can be a blessing to others. Whatever you are praying for, you must be intentional about your request, what is the motive behind what you want? and if God gives it to you, will you use it to honor Him and serve others or for your selfish desires?
I pray for grace to truly be surrendered to God's will for our lives, I pray that we will become intentional in our prayers. IJN, Amen.

Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.
