Colossians 3:2: Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
2 Corinthians 4:18: As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Philippians 4:8: Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things.
In life, how we view things will definitely shape our ideals. Specifically, how you view yourself will affect your confidence, your way of life and even how others treat you. Remember the story of the Israelites, they viewed themselves as ants in front of the giants before entering the promise land. It affected their perspective and that hindered some of them from entering the promise land. Even after God told them the battle has already been won, they could not see themselves as anything more than slaves under the Egyptians. They still needed to change their perspectives in order to see themselves as God did.
It is easy for us to question the Israelites' behaviour but we forget that there are some areas in our lives that we need to change our perspectives as well. At first, I could not understand why the Israelites were so disobedient and then I realized that I have been an Israelite at some point in my life. Sometimes, I have doubted God's love for me and other times felt unworthy of His love.
So we must stop and ask ourselves, in what ways have I condemned or belittled myself? when have I ever assumed that I am an ant in the midst of adversary. What story about yourself are you replaying in your mind that is contrary to God's will for your life? what negative thing have you focused on to the extend that it has become your reality?. Whenever we focus on the wrong things, we begin to act in fear because we are out of God's grace. God created this world for us to live, and be happy but whenever we decide to focus on things that are contrary to His will, we negate the whole essence of our existence here on earth.
I pray for God to open your eyes to see beyond the ordinary, so you become aware of the reasons why He sent us here. In Jesus Name, Amen.
